VATTENFALL INVESTS IN ENVIRONMENT THROUGH VIDEO CONFERENCING FROM VIDERA

Helsinki, 23 February, 2010

Vattenfall strives for becoming the number one environmentally friendly energy producer and the benchmark of the industry in daily processes and major investments. Recently Vattenfall decided to increase the use of remote work solutions in all the countries it operates in, in order to cut back carbon dioxide emissions caused by travelling. Videra as one of the leading European suppliers for video conferencing was chosen to supply the solution.

The objective of Vattenfall’s tender for video conference solutions was to find a remote work solution that allows the company to decrease work related travelling and carbon dioxide emissions.  Videra was chosen from a group of European suppliers, because of highly advanced technology and customer oriented company philosophy.

Vattenfall is expecting significant savings in greenhouse gas emissions, because of the wide implementation of the service in its multinational organization. Over one hundred meeting room installations have already been made in Germany, the Nordic countries, the UK, Poland and the Netherlands. Altogether the five year agreement between Vattenfall and Videra covers hundreds of videoconference rooms and desktop video conference users.

- Traditionally cutting back costs and saving time have been the most important reasons to utilize remote meeting services, but we are seeing environmental reasons becoming more important all the time, comments Janne Lauanne, Business Area Director at Videra.

The agreement is very international in nature and over half of the video conference room installations are made in Europe, outside the Nordic countries.

- We are very happy about the multi-million euro agreement and the fact that yet another large multinational corporation trusts Videra as the sole supplier for their video conference services. Our strategy is yielding in great results in the Nordics and also farther in Europe and allows us to continue and accelerate our growth internationally, Lauanne continues.

Vattenfall is becoming number one in the industry in environmental aspect but also striving to become the benchmark of the industry by developing environmentally sound technologies and by carrying social responsibility in all the societies where Vattenfall is active. By developing and implementing new technology, such as new remote meeting solutions, the company is taking a position as a forerunner by setting an example how to decrease green house gas emissions and save time while increasing company’s efficiency at the same time.
